On behalf of the

Interfaith Center of New York

and the Temple of Understanding

We invite you to attend the annual

Interfaith Prayer Service

on the occasion of the opening of the 60th General Assembly of the United Nations.

We have been sponsoring this event each year for the past decade.

WHEN: September 13th, 2005 at 8:15am.

WHERE: St. Bartholomew's Church, on Park Avenue at 51st Street.

FORMAT: This event will be similar to those of past years, with leaders of about thirty different faiths from around the world offering prayers from their traditions for the work of the General Assembly.

We are hopeful that you will be able to lend your presence to this occasion, and, by doing so, enhance the solemnity with which we call for blessings on the upcoming session of the General Assembly.

Secretary General Kofi Annan has agreed to join us again this year, as he usually does.
Additionally, the incoming President of the General Assembly normally participates.

Please plan to arrive at St. Bartholomew's Church by 8:00 am, in order to allow time for security and to obtain your credentials. Be sure to bring photo ID in order to receive your security badge. We hope that you will wear clerical robes or traditional dress, as appropriate. The service will last about one hour.

CONTACT US: Please do not hesitate to contact us at (212) 685-4242 or e-mail Moise Waltner at moise@interfaithcenter.org if you have any concerns or require additional information. For more information about the Interfaith Center of New York, please visit www.interfaithcenter.org.

Despite the many demands on your schedule, we are hopeful that you will be able to confirm your attendance as soon as possible.

With all good wishes.
