Introduction to Yale's Faith & Globalisation Initiative | January 01, 2009

The impact of religious faith is profound in a world where political, economic, and social spheres are increasingly interconnected. Intentional and sustained reflection on the crucial issues of faith and globalization can lead to the kind of reconciliation and peaceful coexistence that life in the 21st century demands.

As a way of considering these essential questions, Yale, in collaboration with the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, has launched the Faith and Globalization Initiative. This three-year effort will explore a variety of topics and issues -- in the classroom, in formal lectures and informal conversation, and through research, speeches, conferences, and the internet.

The initial topics included here represent a starting point in the conversation about faith and globalization. Additional areas will be addressed and added to this web site as the Initiative takes further shape in the months and years ahead.
Site Overview
The premier venture for the Faith and Globalization Initiative is a seminar being offered on campus in the fall of 2008. Many of the resources related to the seminar, which is led by Yale Professor Miroslav Volf and former Prime Minister Tony Blair, will be available for public dissemination.

Other Faith and Globalization Initiative events planned for the fall include interviews with major public figures, scholars, and religious leaders.

Each topic listed at the right is addressed in the seminar. Readings, other resources, interviews and articles are available by clicking on the individual links. Additional information related to the various topics will be added as the semester progresses so check back often for updated material.
