MUNICH, Germany -- India and Pakistan have been improving their relations and communications with each other, India's national security adviser said Sunday.

"I think we have a far better relationship" than in previous years, M.K. Narayanan, the recently appointed national security advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, told the 41st Munich Conference on Security Policy.

"India-Pakistan dialogue today is much better than it has been for a very long time," Narayanan said.

"A very vibrant back channel between the prime minister's office (in New Delhi) and the president's office (in Islamabad) has been extremely productive," he said.

India still had concerns about camps near Pakistan's border with the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that it alleges holds militant guerrillas, but the prospects for a further improvement in relations were good, he said.
