Irish Catholic primate welcomes selection of new Anglican leader

CWN – October 04, 2012

Cardinal
Sean Brady of Armagh, the Primate of All Ireland, has issued a
statement welcoming the election of Richard Clarke as the new leaders
of the (Anglican ) Church of Ireland.

Cardinal
Brady said that he was “delighted” to hear of the selection, and
looked forward to working closely with the Anglican prelate–whom he
described as “a person of great wisdom, gentleness and kindness.”

I
wish him many blessings as he takes up his new responsibilities.
I pray that God will grant him all the grace and wisdom and courage
he needs and I assure him of my own cooperation and that of the
Catholic community in Armagh in the promotion of greater
understanding and the common well-being in these difficult and
challenging times.
